Text calls using IP Relay

Phone calls simplified.

If you’re deaf, DeafBlind, hard-of-hearing, or have a speech disability, T-Mobile IP Relay makes it easy to make and receive phone calls using text. Just fire up your browser on your computer, tablet, or launch an app on your phone. Type in the number you want to call and connect through text.

You type your side of the conversation and a trained T-Mobile operator voices what you type. When the person you're calling replies, the operator types the reply which you read.

Here are some things that make IP Relay better:

First, IP Relay is developed for for you. They’re your calls on your terms.

T-Mobile IP Relay was developed for people who are deaf, DeafBlind, hard of hearing, or people who have a speech disability. We have features that make text-based communication quick and easy. These features include font sizes that you can change the color of the font that you can choose, and the background color.

VCO Voice Carry Over. Enjoy two-line VCO calls. HCO Hearing Carry Over. Which is the same using two-line hearing carry-over. Adjustable typing speed. Manage the typing speed to suit your preferences, and once your call is done, you can save a transcript and you can read and review that. Save a copy of your call. You can save it to your computer or you can email it to yourself.

IP Relay is confidential, 100% confidential. Only you can save or email the transcript. Language Options. Choose between English and Spanish for seamless communication. If you’re not available and otherwise busy, the operator will leave a text message and send it to you. It’s basically text mail and it will send to your email address.

Finally, emergency calls. If you need to make an emergency call, you call 911 and it will connect you with a first responder. IP Relay is convenient and ready when you need it. T-Mobile IP Relay is a great way to make a call while you’re doing other things or when your internet connection is slow. It requires a lot less bandwidth and like texting, you can communicate while you’re doing other things.

It’s confidential, delivering safe conversations.

For example, if you’re not camera-ready and you don’t want to see people on VRS or you’re talking with your doctor and you don’t want somebody else peering in or signing for you, maybe you don’t even use sign language. T-Mobile IP Relay is a confidential way to make phone calls. The whole conversation is in text for your eyes only.

But what about having an operator on the call? IP Relay has strict, confidentiality rules. They are forbidden from recording or holding onto any of the conversations by law. IP Relay is better because we have live operators, which makes your communication smoot and accurate.

Next, it’s accessible, and ideal for the DeafBlind community.

T-Mobile IP Relay includes things like Braille compatibility and it’s compatible with screen readers. It’s also compatible with iOS and Android accessibility features. And that helps meet a variety of individual needs.

You can change the font size, the font color and the background to whatever best suits your needs. You can customize that to your preferences.

Even better, T-Mobile has a commitment to the DeafBlind community. We have people to help you become comfortable using IP Relay.

IP relay is proven. It’s not just IP Relay. It’s T-Mobile IP Relay.

When we first began offering IP Relay 20 years ago, it was a breakthrough for the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. Since then, T-Mobile has connected millions of calls for people who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, DeafBlind or who have a speech disability. When you need to make an IP Relay call, trust the one provider who has been doing it longer than anyone else: T-Mobile.
